This girl is on fire! Lumping 60kg at her first run at this track, 4YO mare ONE MORE TRY made short work of Bendigo’s 1600m under a patient Jordan Childs ride. After being a little slow to begin, he skilfully settled the mare one out at the tail of the field and, despite being 2–3 lengths out of touch early, Jordan quietly tagged on. He asked her for a run before and on the turn for home. From last to first, down the outside she stormed for a big win.

Two starts, two wins this campaign has Matt keen to test this lovely mare over Flemington’s 1700m for mares on Melbourne Cup Day and perhaps even the 2000m of the Group 2 Matriarch Stakes that week will be within her capabilities. Despite being a picky eater, ONE MORE TRY keeps impressing us – she’s earned a tilt at facing stronger company.
