TIGEEN (NZ) [O’Reilly (NZ) x Knocknacrea (GB)] was selected by Matt’s parents Luca and Sara Cumani at New Zealand’s 2016 Karaka Premier Yearling Sale as an eventual broodmare for their Fittocks Stud in England.

Managing her promise carefully, Matt launched her career as a 3YO and was rewarded with a runaway win over 1400m on debut. That campaign’s five starts saw her home in the first four runners in all races except the testing G3 2000m Ethereal Stakes. TIGEEN went on with it today for a resounding win over 1600m on a race day full of quality full fields at the roomy Bendigo track for a career to date of 8: 2-1-2.

Post-race Matt said, in jest, that his parents were “tricky owners”; but he was straight up in his praise of jockey Jamie Mott, “one of the best rides I’ve seen … got the timing perfectly”. The stable is hoping for further wins for our Irish mo stoirin before her date with a stallion.
