CONVERGING, a natural get-back runner that likes a bit of room, was ridden sympathetically and astutely by Jordan Childs. Allowed to settle then creep up on her rivals, from the 1000 it was game on as she moved in on her 12 rivals, coming hard over the top of them for a “super impressive win”, said the commentator.

The near-black 4yo mare by Strada from the Stravinsky mare Valse Des Fleurs (NZL) now has a record of 5 starts for 2-1-0. Finishing top 5 in all starts, CONVERGING did not race until she was a 3YO where she captured a second (1600m) and a win (2124m) in that prep’s three starts. Granted a lengthy spell, this lovely mare has returned in great order and today’s second start for the new prep saw her win convincingly over 1700m on the Soft5 of Warrnambool.

The races she has contested have produced numerous future winners, so her happy group of owners has every reason to expect their mare will progress. She’s a horse on the up and Matt is now looking to Flemington on New Year’s Day. That would be a wonderful way to start 2019.
